It was gathered that Leye was travelling to Akure, Ondo State, for a church outreach, when the incident happened. However, the vehicle he boarded from Ikire to Akure developed a fault around Erin-Oke, where he last spoke to his family. Currently, crisis-rocked Libya has ousted Nigeria as Africa’s leader in terms of crude oil production and reserves. As of 2016, when the current administration settled into office, oil reserves were about 37.4 billion barrels but it has fallen to 36.9 billion barrels. Daily production, which almost hit two million barrels, now hovers at 1.2 million. Although hostility by Niger Delta militants against oil production was previously the main challenge against oil production, there has been relative peace in the region. Likewise, the set target of 40 billion barrels reserves may be a pipe dream due to paucity of the right level of investments.

Nigeria’s Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and Operation Emergence-4 Maroua in Cameroun are changing strategies against Boko and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists. Dole said the Theatre Commander, OPHK, Maj.-Gen. Christopher Musa and the Force Commander, MNJTF, Maj.-Gen. Abdul-Khalifah Ibrahim, had paid an operational visit to Operation Emergence-4 in Maroua, Cameroun, toward the objective. He said the commanders were received by the Field Commander, Operation Emergence-4, Maj.-Gen. Saly Mohammadou, before proceeding on a courtesy visit to the Governor, Far North Region, Cameroun, Mr Mijhinyawa Bakri. On his part, the Force Commander, MNJTF, Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim commended the troops of Operation Emergence-4 for their remarkable cooperation in the fight against terrorism. The Commander, Operation Emergence-4 Maj.-Gen. Essentially, the amount is public fund meant to be utilised to improve the standard of living of Nigerians. Rather, the entire engagements stink of fleece of a high order, despite contrasting claims by the feuding parties. Curiously, the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has denied the execution of the projects. The issue certainly once again brings to the fore the incidences of corrupt practices bedeviling the growth and development of the nation. It is equally important however that contracts are devoid of imbedded irregularities or fraudulent acts that are patently against the public interest.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a Brazil-based drug dealer, Okafor Okwudili Moses, over 2.55 kilograms of cocaine recovered from a toilet at the E-Arrival hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos. “The following day, Saturday 13th November, the actual owner of the consignment, Okafor arrived at the airport from Brazil via an Ethiopian Airlines flight and was promptly arrested. While being interviewed in custody, he confirmed he is the owner of the seized illicit drug,” the NDLEA said in the statement. In the same vein, four other suspects were arrested at different locations in Jimeta, Yola North LGA, with assorted substances such as Cannabis, Diazepam, Exol- 5 and Tramadol tablets. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) commended the officers and men involved in the operations across the commands for sustaining the heat on drug cartels in the country.

The petition was addressed to the International Criminal Court to arraign Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, over alleged crimes against humanity.
