Independent estimates have long suggested NASA already spent some $20 billion+ on the Artemis program 🚀. A moon-orbiting space station (Gateway) and a spaceship to shuttle the astronauts from the space station down the surface (lunar lander) must be designed, built, tested and then launched into space. So what is NASA doing to control Artemis’ costs 💰? Since then, I’ve been at Kennedy Space Center reporting on nearly every space shuttle launch and the retirement of the shuttle program with Atlantis’ final flight in 2011. And I continue to track NASA’s SLS as the Artemis I Moon Rocket is readied for rollout and first flight.

Run Rabbit RunImage: NetflixHorror’s had enough exorcism tales to last decades—especially with a new Exorcist movie coming next month—but The Pope’s Exorcist, released earlier this year, has found new life on Netflix for a reason. A few months after debuting at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, this Australian chiller starring Succession’s Sarah Snook made its way to Netflix to unsettle the streaming masses. Snook plays a doctor whose dark past comes back to haunt her, maybe literally, when her young daughter starts acting like she knows way more about her mother’s troubled childhood than she should. Florence Pugh gets to dig into that good ol’ horror trope, playing a fake medium who pretends she’s able to speak to the dead. It may be a King tale, but its suspenseful narrative and the main character’s mental-anguish deterioration spiral also owe a debt to Edgar Allan Poe.

By N.A.de S. AmaratungaAdequate nutrition is vital for both physical as well as mental growth and development of the human being. If this development is inadequate the whole nation would not advance in all spheres of human activity, the economic, cultural, sports etc. Though inflation may have come down, prices of these essential food items have remained high. At present these items are not within their reach and they cannot buy sufficient quantities required for adequate nutrition. Though vegetables are not too expensive people do not buy them in sufficient quantities required for adequate nutrition.

Indian Minister’s visit ‘deferred’; no reason given View(s):Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who was due in Sri Lanka yesterday, suddenly called off his visit on Friday night, with no official reason made public by either Colombo or New Delhi for the cancellation. There was little confirmation if the cancellation of the visit was connected to the Chinese vessel being granted permission. The Sunday Times learns that though the Chinese ship has been granted permission to dock in Sri Lanka, the details are yet to be worked out. These details also include which ports it will call at, the duration of the visit, and the exact work it will be engaged in while in Sri Lankan waters. The National Aquatic Research Agency has strongly supported the ship’s visit, saying its scientists hope to be engaged with the vessel’s work.

Sri Lanka take historic win against England cricket View(s): View(s):England Women slumped to their first ever defeat by Sri Lanka Women in T20s as the visitors levelled the series with an 8-wicket win at Chelmsford. England collapsed to 104 all out off 18 overs with Sri Lanka’s superb spinners taking eight of the 10 wickets. Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu then hit an entertaining 55 from 31 balls as her side reached their target with 40 balls to spare. Sri Lanka were understandably jubilant in celebration, Samarawickrama raising her arms aloft as she sealed the winning runs with a six off Kate Cross. But a relatively inexperienced England side were still heavy favourites to win all three Women’s T20s against Sri Lanka, who are significantly behind the hosts in professionalism, finances and depth of talent.

SLC belongs to the people of country — Keerthinanda cricket View(s): View(s):While it is obvious to those acquainted with the Sports Law that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) or, for that matter, any registered national sports body, is bound by the legislation, the thinking in some quarters is contradictory. It belongs to the membership,” he countered, responding to allegations that SLC misuses public funds for their personal benefits. “So the notion that Sri Lanka Cricket or any other registered sports body is a private entity is misleading,” said Panduka Keerthinanda, attorney-at-law. “Sri Lanka Cricket is registered since 1974 and no one can say it’s a private entity. Keerthinanda was instrumental drafting both doping and anti-corruption act–the first South Asian country introduce tough anti-corruption laws to tackle sports related corruptions.

The post office was completed in just 43 days—two days ahead of schedule—and is being heralded as a showcase of the efficiency and potential of 3D printing technology. To build the post office, a robotic 3D printer methodically placed layers of specialized concrete, resulting in a cohesive structure with no vertical joints. Unleashing 3D printing potential3D printing remains quite popular among the DIY community and tech enthusiasts, but its use cases go far beyond printing toys, cases and stands. X, formerly known as Twitter, is lifting its ban on political advertising in the US. The Elon Musk-owned platform famously banished political ads back in 2019 when former CEO Jack Dorsey was still in charge. And paying to increase the reach of political speech has significant ramifications that today’s democratic infrastructure may not be prepared to handle. A spokesperson for X said in a statement:"Building on our commitment to free expression, we are going to allow political advertising." "Starting in the US, we’ll continue to apply specific policies to paid-for promoted political posts.
