THE FUTURE of Ballyfad National School has been secured after it welcomed back a student last week. “We’re delighted for the future of the school as last year finished with us just having two students. The Friends of Ballyfad National School will be on hand to encourage more enrolments for the next 12 months but we hope once parents see the numbers return, they’ll be encouraged to enrol for years to come. If those new junior infants join the school year next September, that will secure the future of the school for eight years and by that time, we’ll have a raft of new kids enrolling”. “The school has only one pupil and we’ll have to let that be known to the Department,” he said.
