A higher passing rate for the 2016 Bar examinations is expected by the Supreme Court (SC) en banc. According to a well-placed source of The Manila Times, SC Associate Justice and 2016 Bar examinations chairman Presbitero Velasco Jr. has projected the passing rate to be at least around 40 percent. The SC en banc has set a special en banc session on May 3. The SC en banc has the discretion to lower the passing grade upon the recommendation of the chairman of the Bar examinations. In the last 10 years, the highest passing rate was 31.95 percent in 2011 when 1,913 of 5,987 examinees made the grade.
