‘My insurer refuses to settle my Covid claim on a Lake Garda holiday’


✉ In November 2019 I booked a long weekend to Lake Garda through Secret Escapes to celebrate my 60th birthday the next April. However, the hotel closed in March 2020 because of the pandemic. The cost of our flights was refunded by easyJet, but I’ve been unable to get back the £567 I paid for the accommodation. A claim I have submitted through my annual travel insurance with Nationwide, underwritten by UKI, continues to be declined. Nationwide has also declined a chargeback to my Visa card because the time limit for such claims has passed.
