Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Vijay Shah on Saturday (February 7, 2026) once again apologised for his objectionable remarks against Indian Army officer Colonel Sofia Qureshi, saying the comments were made in the “excitement of patriotic fervour” following Operation Sindoor. Colonel Qureshi was part of the team that briefed the media during the Operation Sindoor. I have always had and will continue to have the utmost respect for the Indian Army,” he added. A prominent tribal leader of the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Shah said that the episode had taught him an important lesson. Once again, I unconditionally apologise to all citizens who have been hurt by this incident, especially the Indian Army,” he said.
