Six weeks ago Polly Shute set up Out and About, which she describes as a networking group to organise events and activities for queer women. She had envisaged cultural days and nights out, meals, drinks and trips to see shows and concerts. PayPal, however, had other ideas. Two weeks before the group’s first event on July 28 (dinner and a private view of the new Art of Banksy exhibition in Covent Garden, London) the online payment company froze her account, which contained £225 payments from the group members. SponsoredShute, 53, said: “It’s hard enough kicking off a new events venture during lockdown, but having my account closed after five transactions for no apparent reason is really frustrating.”PayPal’s account review department would not tell Shute
