‘Regional forces should form second front, Congress not pan-India party’: SAD chief on Lok Sabha polls

Calling for a united alliance comprising all major regional players, Shriomani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Sunday said opposition parties should come together to take on the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls in 2024. Regional forces are more connected to the ground and have better understanding of the people. Regional parties should come together and form a front before the 2024 general elections. He further said this alliance will not be called the third front but the second front, as Congress is no longer a pan-India party. Badal’s statement comes days after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s outreach to opposition parties.
