This week, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, doing their level best to keep Californians out of Texas and Florida, (a move which no doubt delighted conservatives in both states) voted to ban official travel to Florida and Texas. Kuehl was apparently referencing Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law and Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s order for state agencies to investigate reported instances of “abusive gender-transitioning procedures” performed on children. Kuehl charged, “That order in Texas is discriminatory, harmful, and deliberately cruel. … The law in Florida would perpetuate a culture of bullying, secrecy, shame, and fear. This misguided policy is a punishment for LA County employees – not for Florida.
