‘The rain has nowhere to go’ – more flooding fears amid ‘worst case scenario’ as eight counties under weather warning with rivers at risk
Status yellow rainfall alerts came into force for eight counties yesterday evening and the warnings will be in place up until 9pm tonight. Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork and Waterford will be under a Status Yellow rainfall alert until 3pm today. Dublin, Louth and Wicklow will be under a status yellow rainfall alert until 9pm. Today is expected to be dull with rain and drizzle, heavy and most persistent over the south and east. A combination of already saturated ground, high river levels and high tides means flooding is likely along rivers and in coastal areas.
