Maranga Fanau director and local board member Phylis Latu said the owners of Manurewa's Gateway Motel should be ashamed. Pointing to the Gateway Motel sign, she spoke to the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), saying, “Don’t pay these guys”. Tenants were reportedly changed $400-plus per week at the Gateway Motel in Manurewa.
