Staring at a lineup of undocumented workers waiting for their COVID-19 vaccines at his clinic on Wednesday, Dr. Paul Caulford still wasn’t sure his plan would work. So as he entered his first undocumented patient’s name into the province’s vaccine registry with only a birthdate and phone number, he held his breath. He and his team started vaccinating people from their client list on Wednesday and will be hosting another clinic for undocumented people on Saturday. The Star asked Ontario’s Ministry of Health earlier this week if personal information, collected as part of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, could be shared with police or immigration authorities. The FCJ Refugee Centre — on Oakwood Avenue, near St. Clair Avenue West and Dufferin Street — is also hoping to host a mobile vaccination clinic for undocumented people in the near future.
