The IGU jobs can last for up to two years and refugees also take skill development or education courses of up to 20 weeks. The aim of the scheme is to “bring more refugees close to the labour market,” the ministry wrote in a press release on Friday. “I am very pleased to see that 1,500 agreements have now been signed by refugees with the IGU scheme. Employment levels amongst refugees and people granted family reunification in Denmark has increased from 21 percent to 38 percent since the last general election in 2015, according to the ministry press statement.
