The deceased is identified as Jaynul Islam, 35, son of Mostakin Miah from Changram area of Barlekha upazila in Moulvibazar district. RAB 9 Sreemangal Camp Commander Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md Kamruzzaman told Dhaka Tribune some inter-district criminals were arrested from Sylhet two days ago. Sensing Rab’s presence, the criminals opened fire at them which resulted in a “gunfight.”Jaynul Islam was wounded in the “gunfight”, while the rest of the criminals fled. Sreemangal police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Salek told Dhaka Tribune he heard about the incident.
