The Washington Post just reported that in addition to the massive arms transfers that the government gave without Congressional approval on two occasions already, 100 Foreign Military Transfers were given without inviting any public scrutiny because each tranche fell under a specific dollar threshold that would trigger debate. These transfers include “thousands of precision-guided munitions, small diameter bombs, bunker busters, small arms and other lethal aid...That’s an extraordinary number of sales over the course of a pretty short amount of time, which really strongly suggests that the Israeli campaign would not be sustainable without this level of U.S. support,” said Jeremy Konyndyk, a former senior Biden administration official and current president of Refugees International.” As Representative Jason Crow (D) from Colorado said, “I am concerned that the widespread use of artillery and air power in Gaza — and the resulting level of civilian casualties — is both a strategic and moral error,” wrote Crow, a former Army Ranger who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.”www.washingtonpost.com/…Kirby, however, has ruled out the withdrawal of US military aid to our recalcitrant ally despite Israel’s use of our weapons upon densely populated civilian spaces. We can’t claim to care about the plight of non-combatants in Gaza and then facilitate their suffering with such weapons transfers.
