12.5 million Ghanaians were food insecure in Q3 of 2025 - Government Statistician


Business News of Tuesday, 10 February 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comLatest data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) shows that Ghana’s food-insecure population fell to 12.5 million in the third quarter of 2025, down from 13.4 million in the second quarter. According to the GSS, 227,519 people were simultaneously food insecure, multidimensionally poor, and unemployed in quarter 3 of 2025. Food insecurity among female-headed households peaked at 44.1% in the first half of 2025, compared with 38.7% among male-headed households. Although severe food insecurity declined nationally from 5.1% in Q2 to 4.6% in quarter 3, the number of Ghanaians facing multiple vulnerabilities continues to rise. Over 13 million food insecure - GSSThe GSS noted that these trends come at a critical time as Ghana works toward the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 2: Zero Hunger.
