A perfectly threaded bowl through a six-inch gap bewitched social media, was shared around the world and turned Potters Resort in Hopton-on-Sea into a brief sporting nexus. Twelve months on, the Just 2021 World Indoor Bowls Championship returns to Norfolk tomorrow and there will be neither crowds nor Brett — on the list of competitors at least. At the end of a rotten year, Brett slipped during a round of golf at Ramsey in Cambridgeshire and his right hand took the brunt of it, and this after he had shot four straight pars and was on track to go under 40 for the back nine.
