130 hotels offer to take in returneesAbout 130 hotels with 16,000 rooms in the capital have offered to serve as makeshift quarantine facilities for returnees from abroad, exceeding the government's need for 6,000 free spaces, according to the Health Service Support Department. Tares Krassanairawiwong, director-general of the HSSD, said his department was tasked with recruiting hotels to function as quarantine facilities for returnees. "Some 130 hotels with about 16,000 rooms offered to function as state quarantine facilities," Mr Tares said. He noted hotels sought different fees, with some basing rates on the number of occupants or number of rooms used, while others sought to charge for food. "Returnees under quarantine in such hotels are not patients," he said.
