ShareThe Google for Startups Accelerator Africa was introduced in 2018 to support the startup ecosystem in the continent. This year’s programme features Google’s most diverse class comprising 15 startups – 47 of which are co-founded by women. 4 startups represented Eastern Africa, namely Ndovu a micro-investment platform (Kenya), Angaza Elimu an edtech startup (Kenya), automated cybersecurity as a service Tabiri Analytics Inc (Rwanda), and PayWay Ethiopia a digitized payments startup (Ethiopia). West Africa took the lion’s share with 7 startups, 6 of which came from Nigeria. South Africa took three slots with deep AI-powered medical images abnormally detection startup Envisionit Deep AI, digital ecosystem platform Khula!, and digital payments online platform Whoosh.
