Henry Long, 18, admitted manslaughter and conspiracy to steal a quad bike but denied murder. PC Harper, 28, was responding to a call about the stolen quad bike when he was dragged by a van near the village of Sulhamstead, Berkshire, in August last year. Long, the alleged driver of the van, from Mortimer near Reading, appeared at the Old Bailey for a plea hearing by video link from Belmarsh prison.
