2 PH films win NYAFF audience awardJohn Lloyd Cruz and Meryll Soriano in ‘Honor Thy Father’Mario Cornejo’s “Apocalypse Child” and Erik Matti’s “Honor Thy Father” were among films that won this year’s Top 10 Audience Awards at the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF), landing at fifth and eight place, respectively. Another South Korean film, “Dongju: Portrait of a Poet,” was seventh, while Hong Kong’s “10 Years” bagged the ninth spot. Among Filipinos who attended the festival are John Lloyd Cruz, who clinched the Star Asia award, and Teri Malvar, who bagged the Screen International Rising Star recognition. Sid Lucero in ‘Apocalypse Child’Some 51 films from all over Asia screened at the 18-day festival held at the Film Society of Lincoln Center and S-V-A Theatre in Manhattan. South Korea’s “Fourth Place” was tenth.
