20-member UN delegation visits Cox's Bazar Rohingya camps


Bangladesh is currently sheltering over 1.1 million Rohingyas in a number of refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar Syed Zakir Hossain/Dhaka TribuneThe team included heads and members of UN organizations including UNHCR and IOMA 20-member delegation of United Nations organizations - including United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR) and International Organization for Migration (IOM) - has visited the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar. Led by heads of three organizations, the team reached the Balukhali-2 and No 11 Rohingya camp, around 8:30am Friday. A press conference will be held around 3pm, where the delegation will talk about their experiences. Earlier, the team reached Cox's Bazar Airport from Dhaka Thursday afternoon, and held separate meetings with the Cox's Bazar deputy commissioner and Rohingya refugees commissioner. On Wednesday, the UN delegation paid a courtesy call to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office in the Jatiya Sangsad, after reaching Dhak
