The village has seen significant housing growth in recent years, with Linden Homes recently delivering the Hainbury Meadows development which has pushed the built-up boundary of the village further north. The family teased plans for 200 new homes north of Hainbury Meadows in May 2023, along with commercial space, a community hub, car parking and a large nature reserve reaching all the way to the dual carriageway. Somerset Council's planning committee south voted in favour of the plans in late-January 2025, despite opposition from the parish council and local residents. Of the 200 homes being delivered within the site, 70 will be affordable - meeting the council's target of 35 per cent affordable housing for any new development of ten homes or more within the former South Somerset area.
