24,000 vehicles with expired registrations face ban


24,000 vehicles with expired registrations face banUp to 24,439 minibuses and trucks with expired registrations will be banned on streets from January 1, 2018, according to the Ministry of Public Security’s Traffic Police Department. The use of out-dated vehicles will face fines of between VND4-6 millionOf the total, 2,632 are minibuses with the remainder being trucks. Vietnam Register has urged registration centres across the country to tighten control over the operation of out-dated vehicles. Major General Tran Son Ha, head of the Traffic Police Department, said that old vehicles are unsafe. In reality, many old vehicles carry passengers and cargo in remote areas, with some vehicles only being driven at night.
