Latest figures show 262 asylum seekers were in Stoke-on-Trent hotels at the end of December. The data reveals there were no asylum seekers in hotels across Newcastle borough, the Staffordshire Moorlands and Stafford borough in September or December last year. The number of asylum seekers being housed temporarily in UK hotels has fallen to its lowest level for 18 months, according to new the data. Labour has pledged to no longer be using asylum hotels by the end of this Parliament, which would be 2029, if not earlier.
