3 arrested over DU student's murder are outsiders, police sayThe three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Dhaka University student and Chhatra Dal leader Shahriar Alam Shammo are all from outside the campus, according to the authorities. Police said they had come to Dhaka a few days ago and launched a business on the footpath. Shahriar, a student of the university’s Institute of Education and Research, was fatally stabbed on Tuesday night while riding a motorbike through Suhrawardy Udyan near the campus. The 25-year-old was the literary and publications secretary of the BNP’s student wing Chhatra Dal at the university. Police have since arrested three suspects, none of whom were students of the university.
