Manitoba public health officials announced 312 new COVID-19 cases and one additional death from the illness on Wednesday. The death is a woman in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region and linked to the outbreak at Holy Family personal care home. The greatest portion of the latest cases — 240 — are in the Winnipeg health region. That number is expected to continue to grow, after Manitoba saw a spike in cases in recent weeks. All of the newly announced variant cases are the B117 variant, which is the dominant strain among variants in the province, making up 46 per cent of the total.
