File photo of Sumi Rani Roy CollectedThe convicts have been fugitives since the murderA Sirajganj court has convicted four people and sentenced them to death for the murder of a woman, named Sumi Rani Roy, in the municipality 18 years ago. The convicted, including the victim's husband, have been on the run since the murder in 2001. According to the case details, Sumi Roy of Tangail district married Subir Roy, owner of ‘Sheela Jewellers’ at Mujib Sarak in Sirajganj, in 1999. Later, her father, Gopinath Biswas, filed a case with Sirajganj Sadar police station, accusing her husband, Subir Roy, brother-in-law Dr Sushil Roy, mother-in-law Usha Roy, paternal uncle Manoronjon Roy, and college teacher Sunil Roy, for her death. Usha Roy, meanwhile, died before the verdict.
