5.1 magnitude earthquake felt in Dhaka, other parts


An earthquake that struck Myanmar was felt in the capital and several other parts of the country on Wednesday night. According to Farzana Sultana, assistant meteorologist at the Earthquake Monitoring Center of the Meteorological Department, the tremor, measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale, occurred at 10:51pm, reports BDnews24.comThe epicenter was in Myanmar, about 462 kilometres from the Agargaon Meteorological Office in Dhaka. The US Geological Survey (USGS) also recorded the quake at a magnitude of 5.1, saying it originated at a depth of 129 kilometres beneath the Earth’s surface.
