Telecommunications technology and services company Ericson has released its annual mobility report forecasting the growth of next generation 5G network. It claims over 550 million people in the world will be registered on 5G by 2022. "We are already seeing a great interest among operators in launching pre-standard 5G networks. This number will swell to 6.8 billion by 2022, with more than 95 percent of the subscriptions registered on WCDMA/HSPA, LTE and 5G networks. "As of Q3 2016, 84 million new mobile subscriptions were added during the quarter to reach a total of 7.5 billion" the report notes.
