K+S Windsor Salt employs more than 225 people at its Ojibway salt mine, and more than 800 people across Canada. K+S Windsor Salt Ltd. is starting work on a $60-million expansion of its Ojibway salt mine in Windsor, Ont. The Ojibway salt mine mainly produces rock salt to de-ice roads and sidewalks during the winter. Work is expected to start on the expansion in 2017, with the pace of the work increasing in 2018. Its salt as also used for water softening.
