Elbert Javellana, Kabankalan City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council head, said four adults and four minors fell from about 20 meters into the Camugao River. The victims were immediately rescued by personnel of the city’ s rescue unit and personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard. Javellana said the hanging steel bridge is already 30 years old and only a few residents use it now. The victims were treated at the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City. Most who fell suffered minor injuries, Zayco added.
