IPOH: About 94.4% of the 27,722 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates from public schools in Perak last year are eligible to receive their certificates. State Education director Zulkafli Mohamed Mokhtar said 26,182 candidates passed the examinations, which were held from Nov 3 to Dec 23 last year. He said 26 candidates obtained straight A+ grades, 982 scored all As (A+, A, A-), 6,348 earned credits (B+, B, C+, C) and 9,954 achieved a minimum pass (D, E). Zulkafli also said 336 candidates did not sit for SPM last year, compared with 479 in 2024. According to him, the main reasons candidates did not sit for the exam included family issues and dropping out of school.
