A Good Policy, but It Could Be Improved

These nations have effectively reduced commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking within their borders. The anti-prostitution oath recognizes the direct link between prostitution and sex trafficking, but it should also assert that those selling sex should be supported. The intention may have been to "regulate" the sex trade and improve conditions, but this did not happen. However, it raises concerns by not recognizing the need for those selling sex to be decriminalized. It is worthwhile to assert an opposition to the sex trade in policy, as there is little evidence to suggest that efforts to decriminalize pimping and brothel-keeping would increase safety, but improving the health of those who sell sex should be just as vital to that policy.
