A sheriff in Arizona tested positive for the coronavirus this week, just before he was scheduled to appear near President Trump at a ceremony at the White House. He said that “one of the first things” that officials did when he arrived at the White House on Tuesday was test him for the virus. Under White House policy, visitors are tested before they are allowed to be close to the president. He tested positive and was escorted away. He never interacted with Mr. Trump, said Judd Deere, a spokesman for the White House.
