This week the Tennessee Senate can give children now trapped in failing schools a lifeline to a decent education. Let’s hope the Volunteer State Senators seize the opportunity—and pass the voucher bill pushed by Gov. The path hasn’t been easy. On Tuesday the bill squeaked through a Senate committee. Later the same day the House was deadlocked 49-49 for 40 minutes until Republican Jason Zachary switched his vote to yea after he was assured his county won’t be affected though it’s still in the bill’s language.
