Jason Willick’s op-ed brought deserved attention to the story of Fred Yamamoto (“A Case of Mistaken Identity Politics in the Heart of Silicon Valley,” Dec 29.). Yamamoto died in France’s Vosges mountains while making the world safe for democracy and defending freedom. Yamamoto was the first person to volunteer from the Heart Mountain camp where he was interned, and he was killed trying to bring food and ammunition to the surrounded Lost Battalion of the Texas 36th Division. He was awarded the Silver Star for his actions.
