Imagine an election: on one side the incumbent obsessed with tax cuts and immigration, accusing opponents of being unpatriotic and dangerously radical. On the other, an opposition buoyed up on anger at the administration’s big policies and fuelled by a surge in young people unhappy with, among other things, the cost of university tuition. Oh, and nobody knows if they can trust the polls. Tomorrow Americans across the US vote in Donald Trump’sfirst big electoral test since he became president. All 435 seats in the lower house, the House of Representatives, are up for grabs, with the Democrats needing to take 23 to win control.
