Harris’s candidacy opens the field again for independents and moderate Republicans, including those who voted for Nikki Haley in the Republican primaries, to look at the Democratic Party again. Whenever veepstakes come around, there is much pontification about all that a vice-president brings to a ticket. Shapiro, the Governor of Pennsylvania, is the rising superstar of the Democratic Party. Along with Shapiro, Kelly is the most business-friendly of the contenders. Like Shapiro, Mark Kelly is a corporatist dressed as a “moderate” and should not be Harris’s vice-president.
