ANDM Central Committee Recommends Demeke Mekonnen Step DownSeptember 30, 2018 - In a dramatic turn of events, the central committe of the Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM) has recommended that their leader, Demeke Mekonnen, retire from leadership position and setp down as chair of the organization. Demeke Mekonnen is the chairman of ANDM and Deputy Chair of the ruling party EPRDF (Ethiopian Peoples Revolutionary Democratic Front), and also the current Deputy Prime MInister of Ethiopia. Demeke Mekonnen was out giving interview in last few days complaining about the smear campaingn against him regarding land dispute issues with Sudan. The ANDM has also decided to change its name to Amhara Democratic Party (ADP). Demeke Mekonnen took over party chairmanship job in September 2010, when he took over from Addisu Legesse.
