AT&T Inc. said Monday it has renewed a contract to continue carrying Viacom Inc.’s channels, avoiding a programming blackout that would have left more than 24 million pay-TV customers without channels such as MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon. The companies had been negotiating for AT&T’s U-verse, DirecTV and WatchTV services to keep Viacom programming after the previous contract between the companies expired last week.
