Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) says flights at OR Tambo International Airport are running on schedule today. ATNS says yesterday’s afternoon disruptions were caused by temporary aircraft diversions due to severe thunderstorms. ATNS spokesperson, Mphilo Dlamini, says they are closely monitoring and managing operations in partnership with airlines and airport authorities. “Weather result of severe weather condition, including thunderstorms, which temporarily affects safe aircraft operations within OR Tambo International Airport Airspace. ATNS re-iterates that safety remains its highest priority and continues to ensure that it works closely with airlines, airport authorities and aviation stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient management of air traffic,” says Dlamini.
