AU new chairman Abdul Fettah al-Sisi to focus on combating TerrorismborkenaFebruary 11,2019As the African Union Heads of States wrapped up today, the 64 years of Egyptian President-Abdul Fettah al-Sisi – took over as Chair person of African Union. He will chair the continental organization, was established in 1963 in Addis Ababa, until 2020. He is taking over from Rwandan president Paul Kagame who served the organization as Chairperson for the last two years. Mr. Kagame thanked governments of African countries and institutions, among others, for their support during his chairmanship of the African Union in the past two years. In his first speech as African Union Chairperson, Abdul Fettah al-Sisi said that peace and security will remain priorities for the organization.
