The African Union (AU) has rejected the decision taken by Israel to recognise Somaliland as an independent state. The continental body says the AU’s constitutive act must be respected and that it will not violate the 1964 OAU decision taken by the OAU in 1964 that commits to respect the borders inherited during independence. The decision by Israel to recognise Somaliland is seen as another example of Israel attempts to divide African countries.
