Ann McKee, Director of the Boston University CTE Center, and neuropathologist Victor Alvarez conduct the post-mortem study of the brain of former NFL player Aaron Hernandez. CTE, a brain degeneration disease, has been found in the brains of deceased NFL Hall of Famers. Hernandez’s brain had dark spots associated with tau protein and shrunken, withered areas, compared to immaculate white of the sample. Normal 27-year-old's brain and Aaron Hernandez's brain. Medical examiners delivered Hernandez’s brain, weighing 1,573 grams, to BU’s labs in April.
