It is estimated that close to one billion people in low- and lower-middle income countries are served by healthcare facilities with unreliable or no electricity. Moreover, we cannot overstate the impact of access to reliable electricity services on effective healthcare. If the international community is genuinely committed to saving lives, it should ensure that every health facility worldwide can access reliable power. This twin approach guarantees fast and cost effective ways to power health facilities and ensure they are sufficiently equipped. More funding and smart investments must be made to power health facilities and strengthen healthcare systems in developing countries.
