Accused in death of Japanese student confessed to his wife, court hears

VANCOUVER—Warren Schneider Jr. and his brother William Schneider have avoided eye contact in the courtroom for the past two days. William Schneider, 51, has been charged with the second-degree murder of Japanese student Natsumi Kogawa and committing indignity to a human body. Kogawa’s body was found two years ago on the grounds of the Gabriola mansion in Vancouver’s West End neighbourhood. Warren said he overheard William ask her, “Did you hear about the missing Japanese student?” At this point, police had not yet found Kogawa’s body. He went to the Vernon RCMP detachment and told an officer where Kogawa’s body was.
