Pop hitmaker Aditya Rikhari, Rajasthani folk-fusion star Kutle Khan and composer-producer Ravator lead with longing lyrics and rock energy on Coke Studio Bharat’s new song “Ae Ajnabee.”While Rikhari had already performed the song live at shows in the past, this studio version, featuring sarangi artist Vanraj Shastri, drummer Suyash Gabriel, acoustic guitarist Solomon Konwar Rengma and more, kicks off season 4 of Coke Studio Bharat. The song follows season 3 of the series, which included hits like singer-songwriter Anuv Jain’s “Arz Kiya Hai,” Haryanvi star Dhanda Nyoliwala’s “Ishq Bawla” and others. In “Ae Ajnabee,” Rikhari brings a warmth amid bittersweet feelings, while Khan comes in with his inimitable powerhouse vocals in Marwari adding Rajasthani folk flavor. Rikhari says about the song, “I feel everyone has an ‘ajnabee’ in their life… someone you never fully have, but never truly lose either. With ‘Ae Ajnabee,’ we weren’t trying to recreate something old, we were letting something old speak in a new voice.
