African Center for Disease Control, UN Team Up to Combat COVID-19


“We can prepare better, fight back, and recover stronger.”The African Union Center for Disease Control (CDC) announced yesterday the launch of a new partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to combat COVID-19. Ogwell said the joint program aims to prevent “severe illness and death,” as well as “mitigate the effects of the disease” in AU member states. North Africa has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 patients with 6,625 confirmed cases. Morocco currently reports 1,988 confirmed cases of the virus, and continues to test suspected cases in line with World Health Organization recommendations. Central African states have reported 1,274 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
