A summit meeting of the African Union got underway in the Ethiopian capital on Sunday. Negotiations are entering the final stages for the creation of a continent-wide free trade zone. Members of the African Union agreed last year to create the zone and gradually reduce tariffs. In the summit's opening ceremony, Rwandan President Paul Kagame said he expects the African Continental Free Trade Area, covering the entire continent, to take shape within a few weeks. Hopes are high that the free trade zone will help boost growth across the entire African region.
